Professionals endorse Barleygreen
Bestselling author and nutrition educator, Dr. Mary Ruth Swope, tells why she believes Barleygreen is truly a food with real power. Dr. Swope says, "Cells made strong through good nutrition will go a long way in giving us an immune system that will resist modern-day illnesses so prevalent in our society."
"If you want to make "Wellness" your lifetime goal, instead of "Controlled Illness", then try BARLEYGREEN! "
"The National Research Council has always recommended what any nutrition textbook will tell you, that you need one serving daily of a dark green leafy or deep yellow vegetable. Study after study shows that the majority of the population just doesn't fill this dietary need. Barleygreen is the ideal way to fill the gap - it is organically grown, all natural, and because of the wide spectrum of nutrients it contains, I consider it a food with REAL POWER... I don't care if you are in your golden years or in your early years; I believe you would benefit wonderfully from making Barleygreen a part of your daily diet."
Dr. Mary Ruth Swope:
Dr. Swope's doctorate was earned at Columbia University, New York City. She did undergraduate studies at Winthrop College, Rock Hill, S.C., and completed master's work in foods and nutrition at the University of North Carolina. She spent 20 years as the Dean of the School of Home Economics, Eastern Illinois University, Charleston Illinois.

David A. Darbro, M.D.
An elected charter member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, David A. Darbro, M.D., is a member of the American College of Advancement of Medicine and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Chelation Therapy. He has appeared frequently on TV and radio shows and conducts Health Information Seminars throughout the country.
After practicing traditional medicine for 15 years, Dr. Darbro was introduced to the concept of Nutritional medicine. He says he has now learned "to be a servant to the "built-in" physician who follows principles and laws the body uses to heal itself."
"It is my opinion that, if one wants to have vibrant health and be "disease free," one must become a person who studies and applies the scientifically-proven principles of nutrition. There is absolutely no other way to achieve a constant state of wellness without this. All living, rejuvenation, healing processes are intimately related to the work of nutrients.
The whole world has served as a proving ground for this concept. What humans (or animals for that matter) regularly consume in terms of their food and drink can be used as a remarkably accurate predictor of their length and quality of life, their reproductiblity, their size, vitality, disease patterns, mental problems, productivity, and so forth.
America is no exception to this. Our diet for the past fifty years has provided convincing evidence, if not conclusive proof, that by accepting a poorer quality diet than our ancestors, we have lowered our standards of health.
After practicing traditional family medicine for fifteen years, I began to study nutrition. To my amazement, I found a plethora of medical literature showing that nutrients could be used as medicines to correct imbalances at the molecular level, which could then lead to reversal of chronic degenerative disease. Up to that time of professional enlightenment, I had used presrciption drugs as my primary therapeutic tool.
I am gratified to see improvement in patients with disorders such as chronic fatigue syndrome, candida or Epstein Barr trouble, or patients with circulatory or digestive problems, when using nutrients as the first line of defense. I have come to consider myself only as a servant to the patient's own "physician within". We must encourage or work with the built-in principles and laws that the body uses to heal itself. One doctor is quoted as saying "If we eat wrongly, no doctor can cure us -- if we eat rightly, no doctor is needed."
The use of nutrition in medicine is a very old concept. Hippocrates, the "father of medicine" lived from 460-377 B.C. He is credited as saying, "Food is your best medicine and the best foods are the best medicines." I believe the true greatness of Hippocrates, however, lies in the fact that he recognized the necessity of treating illness consistent with nature. He believed that the natural forces within us are truly the healers of disease.
If you are presently experiencing symptoms of less-than-perfect health, I recommend orthomolecular medicine (nutrition) as the first plan of attack in improving your health. In fact, I agree with Dr. Swope, Barleygreen is truly a food with real power. One or two teaspoons daily is an inexpensive, easy way to improve the quality of your present diet. Cells made strong through good nutrition will go a long way in giving you an immune system that will resist the illnesses so prevalent in our society."

Of all living things, plants have the greatest power to absorb and use the sun's energy, preserving it in a form that fuels all amimal life, including our own. Nowhere is this power better realized than in young barley leaves, the source of Barleygreen.
The fast-food answer to our nutritional problems may well be in this powerful concentration of protein, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes and chlorophyll -- Barleygreen, the powdered essence of vital young barley leaves.
The story of this balanced source of rich nutrients and its widely experienced benefits in such ailments as obesity, allergies, diabetes and heart disease includes its exciting discovery by a doctor searching for an alternative to the twisting, often dangerous, path of drug therapy.
Some ideas are so simple and truthful that once they've been proposed we wonder why it took so long for them to be revealed.
The simple truth is that for 99 percent of the time man has lived on this earth he depended on the plant kingdom to supply all of the nutrients to keep him healthy and in good condition.
Our ancestors ate only raw foods and our digestive tract was designed to break down and convert those raw foods into living tissue. As time passed, man began to heat the harder parts of plants so they would become softer and easier to eat and "cooking" became part of our vocabulary. However, green plants were still the major part of our food supply.
It was not until the twentieth century that we have begun to mix chemical processing and food production, and it was not until we began to refine and process the nutrients out of our foods that "new" diseases began to appear. Diseases the world hadn't been aware of before. Diseases of the immune system; degenerative diseases such as hypertension, atherosclerosis, heart disease, arteriosclerosis; disease brought about by heavy metals in the atmosphere and in the water and, of course, an increase in the incidence of cancer.
Yoshihide Hagiwara's own life experience led him to his eventual research into plant essences and to his conclusion that an extract of the nutritive factors derived from green leaves could serve as a food to promote health an maintain vitality.
The story of his search for the most perfect single source of health, assisted by a dream which indicated that green leaves hold the secret, is the stuff of which legends are made.
Richard A. Passwater, Ph.D.
The Western world is rediscovering some of the teachings and health products of the Eastern societies. Since the Japanese have the longest lifespans of any industrial nation, it is wise that we learn from them, adding the best of their knowledge to the best of our own.
Dr. Yoshihide Hagiwara's book, "Green Barley Essence, The Ideal Fast Food", describes the special nourishment of Barleygreen, but it also teaches the essence of the Japanese "natural food" philosophy which has contributed to the health of many Japanese and a few enlightened Americans.
As unlikely a food as Barleygreen sounds, it is a pleasant-tasting concentrate that restores to the average diet minerals, vitamins, amino acids and perhaps other food factors that have not yet been elucidated. Dr. Hagiwara is still researching several factors he believes to be present in young green barley leaves that may have special nutrient and even pharmacologic properties.
Of special interst in Dr. Hagiwara's research are the many enzymes in Barleygreen that may have protective properties if they are assimilated as he believes they are.
